Chat is a conversation with xysq inside the dashboard. It remembers what you tell it across conversations, can pull in files and folders you’ve uploaded to Organise, and switches its underlying model based on what you ask. You don’t need Chat to use xysq — your own AI tool (Claude, Cursor, anything that speaks MCP) talks to the same memory. Chat is there for when you want to use xysq directly.

Opening Chat

Click Chat in the sidebar at app.xysq.ai. Your past conversations are listed on the left. Pick one to continue, or start a new one — your first message becomes the title. You can rename or delete any conversation from the list.

What Chat can do

Remember what you tell it. Anything you share in Chat lands in your personal vault. Bring it up again next week, in a different conversation, and Chat will know.
I'm rewriting our auth middleware to use JWTs instead of session cookies.
A week later, in a new chat:
Where was I with the auth rewrite?
Use your files. Type @ to mention any file or folder from Organise. The contents come into the conversation for that turn.
Summarise @design-spec.pdf and tell me what's missing.
Pin files for the whole conversation. From Organise, right-click a file or folder and choose Use in Chat. It stays attached for every message in that chat — you don’t have to re-mention it. Drop files in. Drag a PDF, image, or text file into the chat window. It’s uploaded to a /Chats/<conversation title>/ folder in Organise automatically and attached to the conversation. Search the web. When you ask about something recent — today’s news, current prices, what just happened — Chat searches the web and cites the sources inline. You don’t need to ask for it.

Choosing a model

The model picker at the top of the chat lets you steer how Chat thinks:
ModeWhen to use
AutoThe default. Chat picks the right mode for each turn.
FastQuick replies, simple questions.
SmartHarder reasoning, longer answers.
VisionWhen you’ve attached an image.
ReasoningStep-by-step problems — code, math, planning.
Leave it on Auto unless you have a reason to override it. If you attach an image, Chat will switch to a vision-capable mode automatically.

Context and compaction

Long conversations fill up the model’s context window. The meter at the top of the chat shows how full it is. When it’s getting full, click the meter and choose Compact this conversation. Chat summarises the older messages so you can keep going without losing the thread. The summary becomes the new starting point — recent messages stay verbatim.

Daily limits

You get 20 chat messages per day on the free plan. The counter resets at midnight UTC. If you run out — or just prefer your own setup — connect xysq to your AI tool via MCP. Memory is the same on both sides: Anything you say to Chat is available in your AI tool, and vice versa.

Deleting messages and conversations

Click any conversation in the sidebar and use the menu to rename or delete it. Deleting a conversation removes the messages — memories that were retained from it stay in your vault unless you forget them explicitly. To remove an attached file from a conversation’s history, click the × on its chip in the scopes strip. The file moves back to your Organise root.
